I am in the area on business from the US and found this restaurant wail looking for a place to eat. I have never had Canadian beef before and wanted to try it. I had the prime rib and it was the best tasting beef I ever had. It was a little overpriced and certainly not fine dining but worth the test experience.

way over-rated! my wife and i ate there and we hardly made it home without having to stop to use the restroom! we both felt gross and have not been back since!

The prospector is absolutely delicious. I always get the Salmon or the Prime Rib. The salad bar is delicious and the only one I know of that is left in Thunder Bay. Buns great, Soups great. Sometimes a little too loud, but I love the downtown PA atmospehere, and the excellent service I always get at The Prospector.

I was visiting the city and I was told this was a great fine dining restaurant by many. This is certainly not a fine dining restaurant!

WAYYYYYYY OVERPRICED!!! This is certainly NOT my idea of fine dinning. It smelled of grease in the resturant, my server was slow and useless. My meal was overcooked and when I mentioned it to my server she said "sorry" and walked away?????? I will never return. Thunder Bay if this is your idea of Fine Dinning, you best stick to Mcdonalds.

The prospector is hands down my favourite restaurant in Thunder Bay. I have been eating there for years and always have an ejoyable experience. The salad bar is my favourite part. The beef barley soup is great and their house ranch dressing is one of the best I've ever tried. I wouldn't call the Prospector "fine dining", more of a casual dining (it is afterall, a steakhouse), but how its catagorized on a website doesn't really change how great this restaurant it!
